Beach Volleyball Champions

Beach Volleyball Champions

Wauchope High School had 3 teams progress to the North Coast finals of the CHS Beach Volleyball Championships on Tuesday 14th November at Town Beach Port Macquarie.

On what turned out to be an ideal day for the championships, the junior girls team consisting of Lucy, Melia, Denny, Lana, Miy and Zuriah played fantastic volleyball all day to win all their games and emerge from the final against Tweed Heads High School as the North Coast Champions for the 2023 Beach Volleyball competition. The girls played amazing volleyball with great sportsmanship and skill and their progress over the year has been simply outstanding.

The open girls also won all their games playing an attractive and dominant style of beach volleyball and emerged from the final against Banora Point High School as the North Coast Champions for 2023. This team consisted of Amarlie, Taneisha, Luella, April, Ava and Mia. This has been a culmination of a dominant year in volleyball with amazing progress in their skill level and game play making for an exciting 2024 season.

The open boys team came up against the 2023 CHS semi-finalists in Orara High School in game 1, unfortunately losing this game 0-2. They were able to get a game back in game 2 but then lost their remaining games to finish in 3rd position. They are also playing skilful volleyball that should deliver a good 2024 season with a bit more consistency and decision-making work. This team consisted of Kurtis, Connor, Clayton, Dom, Jyi and Jack.

A massive thank you to the students who helped set up the nets early with Jet and Mr Klaassen and to the parents who came and supported their players. It was a great day that again brought great credit to Wauchope High School on the regional sporting stage and demonstrated what incredible students we have at our school. Well done.
