Early this term Wauchope High School were the very lucky recipient of a photographic and studio lighting equipment donation. Julie Howard a retired professional photographer from Port Macquarie kindly donated her incredibly expensive studio equipment, camera and lenses. Julie spent her career as photojournalist, studio photographer in advertising and real estate photographer. She had her photographs featured on the cover of Time Magazine.
Wauchope High School and the CAPA department would like to thank Julie for her generous donations.
During weeks 2 and 3, Year 11 Visual Arts students had the opportunity to learn about and use the equipment to produce some fabulous studio portraits in the hall. Learning about art making practice, the students were able to make connections between contemporary studio lighting techniques and the dramatic lighting created by Baroque painters from 17th century. The students took a range of photographs of each other before turning the photographs into composed collages to be rephotographed.
