During week 7, the CAPA department delivered two excellent events.
Our Year 11 and 12 students from Drama and Music classes presented an outstanding Performance Showcase to their family and friends. There were amazing performances from all students, but special mention must go to Dominic, Olivia and Taneisha who performed multiple pieces in both Music and Drama. The Year 12 Drama class presented their individual Monologues and their group performances, while the Music students presented several pieces from their examined repertoire. Our Year 11 Drama students can be commended for their group devised performance hosting the night and adding commentary at the start and in between performances. Their performances added an element of wit and humour to the evening. HSC Drama students then presented their performances to the external markers on Wednesday afternoon.
Over the next two days our Year 9 and 10 elective Visual Arts and Photography classes worked tirelessly to create an amazing art exhibition that featured our Year 12 Visual Arts students along with artworks from students in all year groups. The exhibition was open to the students, their families, the school and wider community. The wonderful Mr James, Calleigh, Abby-Rose and their team created delightful food and made coffee for the visitors to the show. An official opening was held Wednesday evening where the Year 12 students were recognised for their efforts in completing their Body of Works. On the Thursday our staff were treated to a morning tea in the gallery where our Principal, Deputy Principal, Head Teacher CAPA, Year Advisors and art teachers presented gallery awards for outstanding work.
The week was exhausting for all involved, but as usual it was incredibly rewarding. Congratulations to all the students, teachers and support staff who worked tirelessly to present an outstanding week of the Arts.
