Jack, Shonekqua and Jayson all represented Wauchope High School with distinction at the Interregional Rugby League trials held at Coffs Harbour on the 30th of April, where the North Coast Region teams played the Hunter Region. Students selected at these trials make the Northern NSW team which will travel to the CHS trials in Wollongong.
Although each of them performed well in their particular matches, playing Centre, Wing and Utility respectively, unfortunately they missed selection and the opportunity to play at the next level. Despite this disappointment, it was a tremendous effort by all three students to advance through the LNC Zone, LNC v MNC and North Coast (versus Northern Rivers and Far North Coast) trials. In Shonekqua’s case, in only the second year of Girl’s tackle, she is the first Wauchope High student to reach this level. Hopefully she will prove to be a trailblazer for other girls at our school, as the pathway towards the WNRL is developing quickly, and we have a strong talent base within our ranks.
