On Saturday the 14th of March, I competed in the Regional Lions Youth Of The Year.
It started off with my interview, in front of a panel of 3 judges. This is where my application is discussed and expanded upon. I was asked 3 general knowledge questions during this interview, regarding social media, nuclear energy and Australia’s biggest challenges in 2020.
Later that day, I participated in the speech night. Delivering my prepared speech about the domino effect drought has on the community, I also delivered two 2 minute impromptu speeches this night regarding the benefits of rural/urban areas, and whether I consider myself a pessimist or an optimist.
The other 4 contestants delivered incredible speeches, both in the prepared and impromptu sections. Wauchope Lions Club was a great supporter, and by winning the competition, I now have the opportunity to represent our region at the district level at Tamworth in the next few weeks.
